Drum Making Workshop
August 14 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
We’re so happy to be offering the Drum Making Workshop again! It was one of our favourites last year and we worked at making it an even better experience this year by collaborating with @shaw_percussion
Shaw Percussion is partnering with Jake Charles for this drum making workshop. You will have an opportunity to make a Hoop Drum and learn about the First Nations traditions behind the drum.
Jake Charles or Na-nock-ashee (which means Hummingbird in Ojibway) is a traditional Anishinaabe knowledge sharer, teacher and cultural guide in his community of the Chippewas of Georgina Island. Phil & Wendy of Shaw Percussion have been making drums for over 20 years and will be assisting Jake with the drum making. These drums are made using all-Canadian materials: a steam-bent cedar shell made at Shaw Percussion and Canadian deer hide.
It’ll be held @healingincolour in Gilford in the magical Mongolian Yurt and lunch will be served.
Sunday Aug 14th
12pm to 5pm
